Burnhouse Lochan Fishery Report – 29th August 2010

With the water temptature dropping to 15oC the fish are really feeding well and the sport this last week has be exceptionally good.
Iain Lowrie  (Slamannan) had 3 Rainbows for 7 pounds 8 ounces while David Munroe from Bonnybridge had 2 for 5 pounds. John Dunning from Falkirk once again had 4 for 11 pounds and put two back in on catch and release.
Rab Green and James Cameron from Larbert had 4 Rainbows between them for a total of 9 pounds 10 ounces.
Once again there were a number of really good Rainbows and Blues were caught and released  plus two Tiger trout with a total figure of landed  fish being 152.
Average 2 fish bag was 6.2 lbs and the average catch and release figure was 4.
In line with our regular two day stocking policy we transferred a total of 190 fish in to the loch this week with 122 fish having been taken prior to stocking.  All stock fish put in have an average minimum weight of 2.6 lbs with a number of larger specimens also being released.
The best performing flies this week were, various dries and wets, Cats Whiskers, Kate McLaren, Green Okey Dokey, CDCs  and the Black Spider.
